Luminox Men's 3053 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark Watch

Cheap Luminox Men's 3053 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark Watch Review

This is my third purchase of a Luminox watch. The model 3053 is a very reliable, lightweight, and accurate watch. This watch is the first Luminox I've owned with the rubber type band, and I think I like it better than the velcro band or the metal band. Luminox has proven over the years to be an exceptional watch, a working man's watch that one can wear to social events as well. The watch is rugged, good looking and accurate. And you NEVER have to be concerned with being able to see the watch at night...it's almost as bright as a nightlight!! The face of the watch is larger than my 3901 model, and much easier to see. The band is made of some sort of rubber, and is very flexible, and comfortable to wear. I also happen to think that this is the best looking Navy Seals series watch that Luminox makes. You can't really go wrong with ANY Luminox watch, but I think the 3903 model is one of the best Luminox watches made. By the way, I researched this watch extensively on the internet, and the best price I found BY FAR was on Amazon.com. I paid less than 0.00 for this watch on Amazon.com, and that included paying for two day shipping. The best price I could find on E-bay (for buy-it now) was about forty dollars higher. So, do your due diligence, and I think you will find that Amazon.com can rarely be beat on the price of this watch!!

Swiss Military Hanowa Men's 06-4095-04-007 Sealander Dive Watch

Cheap Swiss Military Hanowa Men's 06-4095-04-007 Sealander Dive Watch Review

I've had this watch for 6 months now and its seen alot of action. I was surprised at how striking the watch was when it arrived. I nearly shed tears (but didn't) when I first scaped the bezel against some corral in Maui. Dead accurate on time---toe to toe with the cell phone over these 6 months. Sturdy build, impressive weight yet comfortable to wear daily. It's been submerged in salt and fresh water and in turbulent waves with aplomb. I totally feel cooler with this on. So, if you want to feel the coolness not easily put into words too, buy this watch.

Momentum Women's 1M-DV01Y1Y M1 Yellow Rubber Watch

Cheap Momentum Women's 1M-DV01Y1Y M1 Yellow Rubber Watch Review

As a watch enthusiast, I can honestly say that one just doesn't find many yellow watches for women, which is what makes this watch all the more appealing. I would like to mention how pleased I am with the St. Moritz company for having the notion to make dive watches for women in as many colors as the watches they make for men. Well done.
As for the watch, it's fairly standard. It has a timing bezel and date function, as well as very bright glow in the dark hands. I should mention that I don't scuba dive, so I have never tested the function of the watch at any considerable depth. I do snorkel, however, and so far the watch and the band have stood up well to salt water.
Overall this is an attractive time piece. I recommend it for any outdoorsy sort of woman (or child, as another reviewer mentioned that he bought this for his son--I would have loved this when I was a kid) who can appreciate its eye-catching appearance.

Citizen Men's BN0055-53E Eco-Drive Promaster Carbon Watch

Cheap Citizen Men's BN0055-53E Eco-Drive Promaster Carbon Watch Review

Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Promaster Carbon Watch #BN0055-53E
I recently purchased the watch and the first noticeable feature was its XXL size. Even on a big wrist it may appear somewhat oversized but despite this, every design detail makes it look and feel good. Overall, it feels solid and nicely built. I expected for a watch like this to be made in Japan (movement & case entirely made in Japan) rather than "Japan Movt" (only movement made in Japan, while assembled and cased elsewhere), but surprisingly none in the whole series is, whether you spend 0 or 0 (this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). Its large, black dial with luminescent hour marks and hands makes it easy to read under any lighting situation, including underwater; furthermore if exposed to light during the day it glows the whole night. I opted for this specific model as I have been using another Eco-Drive, the Citizen Aqualand BJ2054-51E for the last 4 years and although I loved it I have always been bothered by its excessively busy dial. With this new one, I was looking for simplicity, sturdiness and reliability and so far I'm pleased with my choice. For divers, the carbon fiber bezel offers a nice grip, even with gloves on, which is always a feature to be appreciated. The mineral crystal glass is truly non-reflective and it feels solid but its flush mount with the case makes it somewhat prone to be accidentally hit (and eventually scratched/chipped). I didn't own it long enough to be able to submit a comprehensive accuracy test result but it seems to amaze me with a mere 1 second deviation in 5-6 days, which would result in a remarkable accuracy of only 5-6 seconds deviation per month. The screw-down crown seems to be better built than the previous models as the date adjustment can now be performed without accidentally stopping the watch when actually this was not intended (date adjustment is performed by pulling the crown one notch, while time adjustment requires pulling the crown further, to the second notch). The stainless steel bracelet looks and feels solid and is easily adjustable for various wrist sizes by removing as many links as needed. The expandable clasp sounds like a nice feature for divers but unfortunately it just doesn't extend long enough to allow the watch to be worn over a 7mm wet suit if the bracelet was previously adjusted to snugly fit the owner's writs. The date placed at 3 o'clock doesn't have magnifying glass but, personally I like it this way. Overall a nice watch and with prices expected to go down in the near future it truly makes a very good option for a diver's watch, as well as a day-to-day sport watch.

A final advice: go see it before you buy it - the pictures are deceiving about the size; it's BIG.

Invicta Men's 4342 Russian Diver Collection Black Watch

Cheap Invicta Men's 4342 Russian Diver Collection Black Watch Review

I've had my watch now for 2 weeks, and simply love it (particularly price). It's huge, awesome, and gets noticed. At night, it can be read from a mile away.

The size and wight don't bother me, nor do i even notice the crown chain. I wouldn't recommend for people with smaller than a 7" wrist, or larger than 8". Because of the weight, I wear it high on the wrist so that the crown doesn't dig into my hand any more than absolutely necessary. This makes the fit rather snug. My wrist is 7.5" and I wear it on the second to last hole. Because of the extreme down slope of the straps (where they attach to the lugs), the fit is rather snug even when i loosen it to the last hole. Buckling/un-buckling can be a trick, the straps are very stiff. For me, it is NOT an all-day watch for sure. I posted a picture so you can see it on a normal wrist size (the other pictures were of someone with a skinny wrist).

I seems to be adequate as a recreational or backup dive watch; however, it has no rotating bezel. I figure I can just set the clock 12, at noon, when I go diving ... problem solved. I do worry about the depth of rating a bit, but have not had any problems with 100m behind in the past, ... and hope 5yr warranty will be honored if you have a moisture issue.

St. Moritz Men's M1 Deep 6 Watch

Cheap St. Moritz Men's M1 Deep 6 Watch Review

I just got my Momentum M1 Deep 6 and I am very pleased with it so far. This watch is very large. I have and 8 1/4" wrist, I think it might not fit someone with a smaller wrist. It is large, but it doesn't feel that large and heavy on my wrist. The case is 48.7mm wide and 13.3 high. It is not as thick as a Citizen Ecozilla or Seiko Tuna Can, which is nice because it doesn't feel ungainly. It is a very sharp looking well made watch with a very solid feel. The unidirectional bezel is very smooth with positive clicks you can feel. The movement is very crisp and quiet. Everything about the watch is large and bold, the numbers, lumes, and date are easy to quickly reference even against the black background. The crown seems very sturdy with a nice thick stem. Even the rubber band seems very nice. I think this watch would also look really good with a NATO strap and might get one for it someday. I'm not a diver so I won't be able to do any hardcore depth testing. I am very active in the water though and plan to wear it daily. I also haven't had time yet to test the lume brightness, length of light, or time accuracy but will update my review in a few weeks. I haven't owned a whole lot of watches. A few Timex, Casio, Swiss Army and Seiko, but this watch is definitely worth the 7 I paid for it. If you are looking for a large, quality, solid dive style watch, this is definitely worth looking into. I was also drawn to it because of the 2/4/6 warranty. At the end of two years, send it in St. Moritz / Momentum in WA, and they Service for you, and extend the warranty another two years. After the fourth consecutive year, send it in for service, and get it extended for another two years. Heard good things about their service. I highly suggest this watch if it fits your criteria.

It is heavy and very good looking watch and it came very good package, although without an active battery, which I had to replace. I did not receive a manual with the watch (can my friend who got it forgot to bring it to me), so I am not sure that enough small dials on the main one. In any case, I love my purchase, and less than 50 dollars, that's a good deal

Invicta Men's 5447 Ocean Quest Yachting Edition Chronograph Watch

Cheap Invicta Men's 5447 Ocean Quest Yachting Edition Chronograph Watch Review

Of the dozen or so Invictas in my collection, this is my favorite. Invicta's design team has distinguished itself with some great designs that are contemporary, while retaining classic lines. This Pro Diver Yachting Edition is a great example.

The size is perfect in this era of larger watches - it will look formidable on any wrist, but not overpower as some in the 50+mm range might.

The finish of the case and bracelet is equal to some of the most expensive watches on the market. Wave pattern that guilloche face reminiscent of Omega's Seamaster Pro.

10-minute countdown and 24 hour elapsed time racing timers and 12 hour alert to features, which add greatly to sufficient clock.

For those who, like me, this is a "must", and, as Invicta does not provide any kind of training manual specific to this watch - buy Isa site (at ISASWISS [dot] COM), click the "Technical Info" and Scroll down toISASport category and click the instruction manual for the caliber 8270 in whichever language you prefer. Everything you need to know this movement is included in the manual. (NOTE: 24 hour bezel Invicta includes very shallow, there is no function of this clock GMT.)

Good luck and wear it healthy!

TAG Heuer Men's CAH1113.BA0850 Formula 1 Chronograph Watch

Cheap TAG Heuer Men's CAH1113.BA0850 Formula 1 Chronograph Watch Review

I have had the watch for a couple of months now and I am very pleased. I love every aspect of the watch. The face shows stunning detail and expert craftsmanship. I would recommend this watch as an everyday timepiece. I wear mine to work and abused it a lot. It will take paint off the wall if your arm hits it. It will put a dent into whatever it comes in contact with. I was afraid it would not withstand a work environment but it passed with flying colors.

Please note, the face belongs to the white image, but actually silver.

Orient Men's CEM65001YW "Yellow Mako" Automatic Dive Watch

Cheap Orient Men's CEM65001YW "Yellow Mako" Automatic Dive Watch Review

The Orient Mako has a great reputation among watch fans and it deserves to be a more widely known brand to the public at large. This watch, the "entry level" Orient, does many things well and is a wonderful introduction to the brand.

Orient is a small Japanese company that is partially owned by Seiko. They've been around for more than 50 years, and their claim to fame is that they are a mechanical watch producer that designs and makes 100% of their movements in-house. The in-house designation is significant as it means the company does more than just buy off the shelf designs but rather is directly involved in creating and tuning the mechanical heart of their product. Rolex is know for their in-house work, but even such costly brands as Omega, TAG Heuer, and Breitling have most of their movements made for them by other companies (ETA for the most part). To have a finely crafted automatic watch in this price range that has been designed and manufactured by the seller is rare to say the least. The watches are also hand made, and in Japan as well.

As mentioned this is an automatic watch. The watch cannot be hand wound so you need to shake it to start it, and then it winds itself as you move your arm during the day - no batteries needed. The timekeeping is a tad less precise than a quartz, and for this movement (Orient's 469) the manufacturer states you can normally expect to lose up to to 20 seconds slow or fast each day. (More on this later.) Two related points: if you want to keep reasonably accurate time, you need to reset your watch every week or so, and if you are utterly sedentary during the day (i.e. drive to work, sit at a desk, drive home, sit in front of the TV) the watch may not get enough winding to stay working. You hardly need to run a marathon, maybe 15 minutes of walking total throughout the day will probably keep your watch (and yourself!) functioning well. The power reserve for this movement is roughly 40 hours, which I believe is accurate based on my own tests. (This is the time the watch will take to stop after you take it off when it is fully wound up.) The watch has a day and date complication, with weekday available in Spanish and English. The date complication is not "quick adjusting" so the day and date should not be adjusted from the hours of 9 PM to 4 AM as the gears are in the process of slowly rotating both day and date dials in that time frame.

Minor annoyance for precisonists: the second hand cannot be "hacked" - that is, when you set the time by pulling the crown out, the second hand continues to turn. That means getting an exact time sync is a challenge, as you will be always be fast or slow by however many seconds the third hand is away from 12 o'clock when you push the crown in. Unless you are leading a commando team on a raid, this probably will not be a major issue, but more expensive Swiss movements like those by ETA do offer the hacking feature as do some pricier Seikos. This and the accuracy issue is the biggest negative differences between quartz ownership and owning an automatic.

As to accuracy --- Orient avoids building your hopes up as the manual tells you to expect +25 to -15 seconds of time loss of gain per day. However, over 3 weeks of testing, my Mako keeps time to within +5 seconds per day. This is phenomenal and is within the realm of COSC standards (the expensive and prestigious Swiss timekeeping standard that watches that cost twenty or more times as much as the Mako are tested to). For a watch costing less than a cell phone to meet this standard over time is pretty amazing! You may or may not get this accuracy - anecdotally, many other web reviewers seem to have encountered this level of accuracy in their tests, so I think Orient is on to something here...

As for durability --- the face of the watch is mineral crystal, not sapphire. The bracelet is solid filled links, and feels and looks costly. The watch itself is water resistant to 200 meters, and features two screw down crowns (one for time setting, one for setting the weekday.) The bezel is steel, and turns relatively easily; it is scalloped, not coin-edged (i.e. needs your thumb not your fingernail to turn). Lume is on the dial numbers, the hour and minute hands, and at the 12 o'clock position of the bezel. The lume is decent, but not as good as say the Seiko Monster series - it will last for maybe 4-6 hours of light after sustained exposure to bright light. Warranty is one year through the manufacturer. Packaging is mundane, the manual barely adequate. The watch will probably need a lube and tune up once every 3-5 years, my estimate.

The watch is attractive and understated in style, especially with its black face. Unlike other inexpensive mechanical watches in its price range (cough, Invicta) the Mako does not strive to slavishly imitate the Rolex Submariner, but instead has its own aesthetic going on. The watch case is 41 mm, and the face of the watch itself is the standard 30mm diameter. On my 7.5 inch wrist, this sizing is adequate, but if the watch were slightly bigger it would probably look nicer, at least according to current fashion. (The newer and pricier Mako II aka "Hogrider" is indeed bigger by 5 mm but for roughly 33% higher cost). The neatest thing about this (or any other good automatic) is watching the sweep of the second hand. The watch mainspring beats 6 times per second (21,600 bph), and the second hand has 6 distinct stops between each marked second on the face. This slow majestic sweep is far more elegant that the clunk-ka-chunk precise once per second movement of a quartz analog. The back of the watch is a solid screw-down design, enhancing durability but without showing the movement inside as "exhibtion" casebacks would. (This is the one point I prefer about the Invicta 8926, though arguably looking at the blah Citizen Miyota movement on the 8926 has pretty limited appeal...)

The watch itself is superbly made. Everything feels solid, from the bracelet to the crown to the bezel. There is an Orient logo on the face and on the bracelet that is not problematic due to its subtlety. This doesn't look like a Rolex, but the level of quality is immensely impressive given the price and few observers will think this is a cheap watch by just looking at it. One issue: Orient almost always ships the wrong manual with the watch. None of the watches in the manual I got looked like the actual model, and some features had to be puzzled out. You can also download the correct manual from the manufacturer's website.

All in all, for a dressy though sporty office watch, you can't go wrong with the Mako in black. As a stylish "beater", this would also be a good choice, as it is sturdy, handsome, and yet inexpensive enough that if you somehow did damage it, you wouldn't be crying the same tears that you would if you mashed up your ,000 Omega Planet Ocean. If you were actually using this for diving, you would probably want either a different color face on your Mako or probably something with ISO Diver certification like the more expensive and less accurate Seiko Orange Monster.

The Orient Mako is a great watch, and hopefully at its low price point and high quality will help Orient establish itself firmly in the US market. Try one and see!

I should add the Amazon exclusive yellow model costs close to 80% more than the black and blue models. This strikes me as excessive and also makes the watch much less of a bargain. But if yellow makes you mellow, feel free to pay the added cost.
